Osmanlı İmparatorluğu XVII. yüzyılın sonlarından itibaren Avrupalı devletler ile giriştiği mücadeleleri kaybetmiştir. İmparatorluğun ihtişamlı günlerine geri dönme ve devleti yıkılmaktan kurtarma arzusu zaman içerisinde çeşitli fikir akımlarının doğmasını sağlamıştır. Bu fikir akımlarından/ideolojilerinden biri de İslamcılıktır. Amacı Müslümanları geri kalmaktan, Avrupa devletlerinin esaretinden kurtarmak ve onları medeni hale getirmek isteyen bu ideoloji Müslümanca bir hayat felsefesini ve ahlakını oluşturmaya çalışmıştır. Bu yeni İslam yorumu tüm hedeflerini gerçekleştirmek isterken de referans olarak aldığı dönem asr-ı saadettir. Yakın tarihimizi büyük oranda etkileyen ve halen de etkilemeye devam eden bu ideoloji birçok tez ve makaleye konu olmuştur. Bu çalışmamızda Türkiye'de İslamcılık çalışmaları denilince ilk akla gelen ve bu alanda otorite haline gelen İsmail Kara'nın hayatı, eserleri ve İslamcılık ideolojisi ile ilgili görüşleri araştırılmıştır.

Ottoman Empire has lost its battles with European states as of the end of XVII century. The desire to return to the glorious days of the empire and save the state from collapsing has led to the emergence of various movements of thought over time. One of these ideas/ideologies is Islamism. This ideology, whose aim is to save Muslims from being backward, from the captivity of European states and to make them civilized, tried to make a Islamic philosophy of life and Islamic morality. Such a new Islamic point of view takes the era of bliss as a guidline so as to achieve all its goals. Such ideology, which has greatly affected our recent history and still continues to affect it, has been the subject of many academic dissertations and articles. In this study, the life, works and ideology of Islamism of Ismail Kara, who comes to mind first when talking about Islamism studies in Turkey and became an authority in this field, were investigated.
